Daylight Savings Alert!
Download Updates
Before March 11

Beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States will be extended in all but two states. DST will start on March 11, 2007, which is three weeks earlier than last year, and it will end on November 4, 2007, which is one week later than last year. This results in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than in previous years.

This change means you will need to apply updates to your Microsoft Operating System and Microsoft Office Outlook Mail Client. Otherwise, the daylight savings time zone settings for your computer's system clock will be incorrect.

To determine which operating system you have (except for Windows Vista), follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
  3. Click the General tab. The name of the current version of your Windows software is displayed on this tab.
Windows Me and earlier versions (Windows 98, NT, and 95) are no longer supported and Microsoft is not providing daylight saving time updates for these products. You can double left click on the time in the bottom right hand corner of the Windows Desktop. Left click on Time Zone Tab and uncheck the box for Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes. You will then have to adjust your system clock manually for the beginning and ending of daylight savings.

Also, if you are running Windows Critical Updates, the DST patches should have already been installed. If the DST patch has been installed, you will get an error message saying update can not be installed because a newer or same update is already installed. Simply click on OK button and continue.
