Microsoft XPS Document Writer Guarantees the Way your Document Will Look!
With Microsoft XPS Document Writer, XPS (XML Paper Specification) you get WYSIWG, What You See Is What You Get for all documents.
Without this feature, a document's appearance depends greatly on where and how the document is viewed. And, the printed version of a document can vary, depending on the printer used. Until XPS there was no guarantee that users with different printers attached to different computers would see the same printed document even when the same document is viewed on a monitor. With current software, documents often appear one way when viewed on the screen and another when printed. To make matters worse, many documents depend on locally installed software (Adobe Reader), fonts, and other resources.
When a document is viewed on different computers, aspects of the document, such as page layout, image color, and font style, can change, altering the document's appearance. Consequently, a document's appearance depends greatly on where and how the document is viewed. The printed version of a document can vary, depending on the printer used.
Until XPS there was no guarantee that users with different printers attached to different computers would see the same printed document as when the same document is viewed on a monitor.
Microsoft has included this technology in its latest operating system Windows Vista. In Vista you can print any document from any application and create an XPS document by printing to the new XPS Document Writer which is automatically installed with Windows Vista. You can view an XPS document by simply double clicking on the document in Windows Vista.
XPS is available if you are running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 if you have downloaded and installed the following updates
